India · Published Jul 4, 2026
A low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal is bringing significant rainfall to six Indian states: Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds of up to 50 kmph.

Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea along the Odisha and West Bengal coasts due to rough conditions. The formation of this low-pressure system is typical during the monsoon period, but its intensity and the associated rainfall have prompted authorities to issue timely warnings to ensure public safety and preparedness. The IMD is closely monitoring the system's trajectory and intensity, with updates expected as it evolves over the coming days.
