High-level review meeting held for ARISE project to enhance Odisha's coastal resilience
IN · Published Aug 30, 2026
A high-level meeting was conducted at Lok Seva Bhawan on Saturday to discuss the proposed Adaptive Resilience Investment in Coastal Systems on Economics (ARISE) Project.
The initiative aims to protect Odisha's 573-km coastline, enhance climate resilience, and promote sustainable economic development in coastal areas.

Impact & Risks

The ARISE Project is expected to mitigate the growing impacts of climate change on Odisha's coastal communities and ecosystems. Coastal erosion, sediment movement, and natural hazards pose significant risks to the livelihoods and safety of residents in vulnerable areas. The initiative aims to strengthen natural coastal defences, safeguard villages, and promote sustainable economic activities. Without effective measures, the region could face increased environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and economic instability.
