The inclusion of wild animal attacks and paddy inundation under PMFBY is expected to benefit farmers in states with high human-wildlife conflict, such as Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and others. Farmers in coastal and flood-prone states will also gain from the reintroduction of paddy inundation coverage. This move addresses a significant gap in crop insurance, as such losses were previously uncompensated. However, timely reporting and accurate identification of affected areas will be critical for the scheme's success.
