The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of eastern India due to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions.
This system is expected to move west-northwestwards, impacting Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand until 1st September.

Impact & Risks

The low-pressure system is likely to bring isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Odisha, raising concerns about potential flooding and waterlogging in vulnerable areas. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also expected in parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar, posing risks to life and property. Other regions, including the western Himalayan states and central India, may experience heavy rain, which could disrupt daily activities and transportation.
