The research projects are expected to benefit Ohio farmers by improving their ability to respond to extreme weather events and other agricultural emergencies. For instance, one study will focus on how farmers and emergency responders prepare for and manage such situations. Other projects aim to enhance tools for detecting crop contamination, evaluating water stress risks, and improving soil health. These advancements could mitigate risks to crop yields and long-term farm sustainability. However, the success of these initiatives depends on effective implementation and farmer adoption of the new technologies.
