• As Hurricane Isaias approaches the northern Gulf Coast, mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders have been issued across Northwest Florida.
• Starting at noon on Thursday, October 8, mandatory evacuations were enforced for coastal areas in Zones A and B, including Okaloosa Island, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Mary Esther, and Niceville.

Impact & Risks

The primary risks include storm surges up to 7 feet, flooding, and high winds. Residents in low-lying areas, mobile homes, and barrier islands are at the highest risk. Emergency services will be unavailable during high winds, and bridges will close, potentially isolating some areas. Vulnerable populations, including those in special needs shelters, are urged to take immediate precautions. Military bases, including Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field, have also issued evacuation orders for personnel and dependents in affected zones.
