• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an extreme heat watch for the Orange County and Santa Ana Mountains area, effective from Friday, October 2, at 10 a.m.
• through Wednesday, October 7, at 9 p.m.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The inland and valley regions are at the highest risk, with Major to Extreme HeatRisk levels forecasted. Coastal areas will also experience elevated temperatures, which may disrupt daily activities and increase energy demands for cooling.
