The flooding has caused extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and communities across the Southwest. In Pagosa Springs, a home was swept away, and a road bridge partially collapsed. Two fatalities have been reported, and many residents remain stranded. Evacuations have been ordered in areas along the San Juan and Animas Rivers, as well as in parts of Arizona and Utah. The heavy rainfall has overwhelmed drainage systems, turning dry creek beds into torrents and washing out roads. The risk of additional flooding remains, particularly in areas where rivers are still rising.
