• The Department of Earth Sciences, Andhra Pradesh (DES-AP), has released updated rainfall and temperature data for the state. Cumulative rainfall from 1 June 2026 to date stands at 567 mm, which is 26.8% below the normal average of 775 mm. Recent rainfall measurements from Palnadu district show significant precipitation, with Ganapavaram recording 246.75 mm and Edlapadu Police Station reporting 269.45 mm as of 8:30 am on 3 November
• Additionally, Tirupati recorded the highest temperature at 29.4°C, followed by Polavaram and Poolathota at 28.8°C each. The DES-AP utilises Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) to provide real-time, precise data for informed decision-making.

Impact & Risks

The below-average cumulative rainfall may impact agricultural activities and water resource management across Andhra Pradesh. Heavy rainfall in Palnadu district could lead to localised flooding or waterlogging, particularly in areas like Ganapavaram and Edlapadu. Elevated temperatures in Tirupati and Polavaram may increase heat stress for residents and affect energy consumption patterns. These conditions highlight the importance of monitoring weather data for timely interventions.
