• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for seven districts in Kerala, including Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, and Pathanamthitta, for 4th October
• The state is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph from 4th to 6th October. Additionally, rain with thunderstorms and winds of 30–40 kmph is likely in isolated areas on 7th and 8th October. The IMD has provided a district-wise alert schedule for the coming days, highlighting areas that may experience significant weather activity.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and strong winds could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruption of daily activities in the affected districts. The thunderstorms and gusty winds may also pose risks to outdoor activities and could potentially damage weak structures, trees, and power lines. Residents in low-lying areas and those near water bodies should remain vigilant for possible flooding.
