The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for eight districts in Kerala, including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kannur, and Kasaragod, due to heavy rainfall expected today and tomorrow.
A low-pressure system in the northwest Bay of Bengal is driving the monsoon activity.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall and rough sea conditions pose risks of flooding, landslides, and coastal erosion in the affected districts. Fishermen and coastal residents are particularly vulnerable, with the potential for damage to property and disruption of daily activities. The IMD and the National Institute of Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid venturing into the sea.
