Bihar Floods: Over 48 Lakh Affected as River Waters Begin to Recede

Floods in Bihar have affected over 48 lakh people across 15 districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, and Araria.
As of Sunday, 48.35 lakh people in 575 gram panchayats across 87 blocks remain impacted, although water levels in most rivers are beginning to recede.

Impact & Risks

The floods have caused widespread disruption, affecting millions of residents in 15 districts. Key areas such as Patna, Bhagalpur, and Vaishali are among the worst-hit. Rivers flowing above the danger mark pose risks of further flooding, while the high rainfall levels exacerbate the situation. Thousands of people have been displaced, with 12,260 individuals currently residing in relief camps. The floods have also disrupted transportation and daily life in affected areas, with 1,790 boats deployed for evacuation and aid distribution.
