Bihar Floods Affect Over 4.6 Million Across 15 Districts
• The flood situation in Bihar remains critical, with over 4.6 million people affected across 15 districts as rivers continue to overflow due to incessant rainfall and heavy downpours in Nepal's catchment areas. According to the Disaster Management Department (DMD), water levels in major rivers, including the Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, and Burhi Gandak, are flowing above the danger mark at multiple locations. Impact & Risks
The floods have impacted 561 gram panchayats across 88 blocks in districts such as Patna, Bhagalpur, Saran, Vaishali, Begusarai, Katihar, Purnea, and Buxar, among others. Thousands of homes have been inundated, displacing residents and disrupting daily life. Relief camps are accommodating over 11,000 flood victims, while polythene sheets, dry-ration packets, and animal fodder are being distributed. The situation poses risks of waterborne diseases, food shortages, and further displacement if heavy rainfall continues.
