Residents and visitors in the Outer Banks, particularly those in low-lying areas of Hatteras Island, are at risk of significant flooding and travel disruptions. Coastal wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph may cause isolated power outages, downed trees, and hazardous travel conditions. Dangerous surf and elevated wave heights of up to 12 feet are contributing to beach erosion and ocean overwash. Several oceanfront homes in Rodanthe remain structurally compromised, posing additional risks to nearby areas. The mandatory evacuation order for Hatteras Island visitors remains in effect.
