Heavy rainfall forecast for Telangana; red alert issued for eight districts
• A well-marked depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to Telangana over the next few days. The IMD has issued a red alert for eight districts, including Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda, for September 23 and
• An orange alert has been issued for other districts, including Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, and Karimnagar. Hyderabad is forecasted to experience moderate to heavy rain with gusty winds over the next 48 hours.
Impact & Risks
The heavy rainfall could lead to flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in transportation and daily activities in the affected districts. Areas under the red alert are at higher risk of severe weather impacts, including damage to infrastructure and agricultural fields. Gusty winds accompanying the rainfall may pose additional risks, particularly in orange-alert districts.
