• A three-storey ashram belonging to Saint Bajrang Das, located on the sandy banks of the Ganga in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, collapsed into the river on Friday at around 7 PM.
• The structure, built 20 years ago, had been weakened by recent floods and soil erosion caused by the rising and receding water levels of the Ganga.

Impact & Risks

The collapse of the ashram highlights the risks posed by riverbank erosion and rising water levels during the monsoon season. The incident has left two individuals injured and one missing, with search operations underway. The erosion of the Ganga's banks has also caused significant structural damage to the ashram, leading to its collapse. Such incidents underline the vulnerability of structures built on unstable riverbanks, especially during periods of fluctuating water levels.
