Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), 83,000 farmers in Pune district have been provided crop insurance coverage worth ₹238 crore.
This initiative covers approximately 39,000 hectares of agricultural land, offering financial protection against crop losses due to natural calamities.

Impact & Risks

The crop insurance coverage provides a safety net for farmers in Pune, helping them recover from potential losses caused by adverse weather or other natural disasters. However, the effectiveness of the scheme depends on timely claim settlements and adequate coverage. Delays or insufficient payouts could undermine farmers' trust in the program and leave them vulnerable to financial distress.
