India Launches 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' to Promote Soil Health and Sustainable Farming
IN · Published Jun 3, 2026
India has initiated a nationwide campaign called 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' (Save the Farm Campaign) to address critical agricultural challenges such as declining soil health, climate change, and imbalanced use of fertilizers.
Launched on June 1, 2026, in Ramsiya village, Madhya Pradesh, the campaign will run throughout June.
The initiative aims to educate farmers on sustainable practices, including soil testing, balanced fertilizer use, water conservation, and natural farming.

Why It's Important?

The campaign targets farmers across India, aiming to mitigate risks associated with poor soil health, climate variability, and counterfeit agricultural inputs. By promoting sustainable practices, it seeks to enhance agricultural productivity and resilience. However, the success of the initiative depends on effective implementation and farmer participation. Rising temperatures and erratic rainfall patterns remain significant challenges for Indian agriculture, making this campaign a timely intervention.
