A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until 11 p.m.
on Thursday, September 3, 2026, for Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake, and other nearby water bodies in northwestern Nevada and northeastern California (RGJ, 2026).

Impact & Risks

The strong winds and high waves pose significant risks to small boats and other watercraft on Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake, and other affected water bodies. The NWS advises against boating during these conditions. High-profile vehicles may face dangerous crosswinds, and aviation turbulence is expected. Additionally, blowing dust on desert playas could reduce visibility, creating hazardous driving conditions. Rainfall may lead to localized flooding in areas with higher precipitation, particularly in far western Lassen County and elevated regions around the Tahoe Basin.
