• The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for portions of San Diego County, effective from Friday morning through Thursday evening.
• This prolonged heat wave is expected to bring temperatures of around 90°F (32°C) near the coast and upper 90s to mid-100s (37–40°C) in the valleys.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant risks, particularly to vulnerable populations such as older adults and those with pre-existing health conditions. High temperatures can lead to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke. The increased energy demand may strain the power grid, potentially leading to outages. Additionally, the combination of dry conditions and offshore winds could heighten the risk of wildfires, especially in areas prone to such events. Residents in high-fire-threat zones should be prepared for potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) as a precautionary measure.
