Southern California Faces Dangerous Rip Currents Through Midweek

• The warnings follow a series of tragic incidents last week, including three fatalities linked to strong rip currents and high surf. The NWS Los Angeles has issued a beach hazards statement for Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties, while similar alerts are in place for Orange and San Diego counties. The elevated surf is attributed to southerly swells generated by energetic storms in the southern hemisphere. High tides combined with the surf may also lead to minor coastal flooding in areas such as Malibu and Long Beach.
