The National Weather Service (NWS) Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued an extreme heat warning for areas north of Los Angeles, including the 5 Freeway corridor near Santa Clarita, Santa Clarita Valley, and other surrounding regions.
The warning, which began on Tuesday, remains in effect until Friday, August 28, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, especially for sensitive groups such as the elderly, young children, and individuals without access to air conditioning. Outdoor workers and those engaging in physical activities are also at heightened risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke. The NWS warns that the combination of high daytime temperatures and warm overnight conditions could exacerbate these risks. Residents in affected areas, including the Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Antelope Valley, should take precautions to avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
