Madhya Pradesh Monsoon Nears Withdrawal, Heavy Rain Forecast
IN · Published Sep 17, 2026
Madhya Pradesh has received 33.1 inches of rainfall so far this monsoon season, which is 88.7% of its seasonal average of 37.3 inches.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is expected in the last week of September before the monsoon withdraws.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding in some districts, particularly those already experiencing above-normal precipitation. Areas such as Shahpura and Seondha, which recently recorded significant rainfall, may face waterlogging or disruptions. Conversely, districts with rainfall deficits, such as Balaghat, Chhindwara, and Rewa, may not see substantial improvement in their seasonal totals. Residents in flood-prone areas should remain cautious, especially during the final phase of the monsoon.
