Shimla · Published Oct 5, 2026
• Shimla experiences a significant increase in tourist activity as the monsoon season ends.
• Favourable weather and long weekends attract visitors from neighbouring states, boosting hotel occupancy and local tourism.

Factors Driving the Tourist Surge

According to Jagdish Sharma, District Tourism Officer, Shimla, the city has seen a massive increase in tourist inflow due to long weekends and favourable weather conditions. This year, the absence of major disasters during the monsoon season has also contributed to the positive trend. Popular nearby destinations like Narkanda, Mashobra, Naldehra, and Kinnaur are witnessing high occupancy rates in hotels and homestays, ranging from 60% to 70%.
