Heavy Rain Causes Flooding at Gandhar Oil's Silvassa Plant
IN · Published Jul 25, 2026
Gandhar Oil Refinery's manufacturing facility in Silvassa, located in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, has been impacted by severe flooding caused by unprecedented heavy rainfall over a 48-hour period.
The facility, a key contributor to the company's production capacity, is currently experiencing waterlogging and flood-like conditions, leading to temporary operational disruptions.

Impact & Risks

The flooding at the Silvassa plant poses a short-term operational risk to Gandhar Oil Refinery, potentially affecting production schedules and supply chains for white oil and specialty lubricants. Prolonged waterlogging could delay the resumption of normal operations, while localized flooding in the Dadra & Nagar Haveli region may disrupt the movement of raw materials and finished products. Although the company has adequate insurance coverage, indirect costs or business interruption losses may not be fully compensated. The incident is unlikely to have a long-term impact on the company's financial health, given its strong Q1 FY27 performance and diversified manufacturing base.
