Heavy Rainfall Predicted in South Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported multiple weather systems influencing conditions across India as of 12th September
• A low-pressure area is currently positioned over South Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood, expected to move west-northwestwards across South Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha within the next 24 hours. Additionally, a trough extends from South Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar at lower tropospheric levels, while an upper air cyclonic circulation is present over South Konkan and adjoining Eastcentral Arabian Sea. Another cyclonic circulation is located over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu, with a trough aloft. Central Assam is also experiencing an upper air cyclonic circulation. These systems are likely to result in widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across Northwest India, including Delhi.

The IMD has warned of isolated heavy rainfall in Odisha and other regions affected by these weather systems. Thunderstorms and lightning may pose risks to life and property, particularly in areas experiencing very heavy rainfall. Surface winds in Delhi are expected to vary throughout the day, potentially impacting outdoor activities and transportation. Residents in affected areas should remain cautious of waterlogging, localised flooding, and disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions.
