The eastern Hawaiian Islands, particularly the Big Island, face severe risks from heavy rainfall, flooding, and mudslides. Areas recovering from Hurricane Lala are especially vulnerable. Rainfall rates, rather than totals, are expected to drive significant impacts, with over a foot of rain possible in steep terrain. Coastal areas will experience dangerous surf and rip currents, while wind and wave impacts may increase regardless of the storm's exact track. Property damage, landslides, and disruptions to local events, such as the cancellation of the Na Wahine O Ke Kai canoe race, are anticipated.
