The Spokane wildfires have displaced thousands, destroyed homes, and created hazardous air quality across Washington and Oregon. Winds of up to 25 mph and high temperatures in the mid-90s °F (mid-30s °C) could worsen fire behavior, increasing the risk of new blazes and making containment efforts more challenging. Smoke trapped by high-pressure systems is causing unhealthy air quality levels, particularly east of the Cascades. Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant as evacuation zones are unlikely to be downgraded soon.
