The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed at least five tornadoes touched down in New Jersey and New York during severe storms on Tuesday.
NWS teams are surveying damage in areas including Morris County, Sussex County, and Westchester County.

Impact & Risks

The tornadoes caused damage to homes, trees, and infrastructure in affected areas, including Stanhope, Parsippany-Troy Hills, and Cape May Point in New Jersey, as well as Purchase and Rye Brook in New York. Wind speeds reached up to 110 mph in Roxbury Township, NJ, posing risks to property and safety.
