Northern Minnesota Wildfires Fully Contained After Burning 71,675 Acres
• Fire officials have announced that all wildfires in northern Minnesota, including those in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, are now 100% contained as of September 10,
• The fires, which began in early July due to dry weather and lightning strikes, burned a total of 71,675 acres. Of this, 62,652 acres were in the United States, while 9,023 acres were in Canada. The U.S. Forest Service has reopened most entry points, campsites, and recreational areas that were previously closed due to the fires.
