Residents in the Big Bend and South Georgia regions are bracing for another day of extreme heat and scattered afternoon thunderstorms.
A heat advisory is in effect from 11 AM until the evening, with feels-like temperatures expected to reach between 105°F (40.5°C) and 112°F (44.4°C).

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat poses significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. Heat-related illnesses are a concern, and the strong storms could lead to localized power outages, downed trees, and hazardous driving conditions. Beachgoers and boaters should remain vigilant for sudden thunderstorms near the coast. Additionally, while tropical systems in the Atlantic are unlikely to develop further, Hurricane Lala is expected to impact Hawaii with hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall.
