The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across parts of South India as the monsoon cloud shield shifts southward.
Dense cloud clusters have been observed over the southwest Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, and Sri Lanka, with additional activity in the Bay of Bengal.

Impact & Risks

The forecasted heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily life, particularly in low-lying areas. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also expected, posing risks to outdoor activities and infrastructure. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the Bay of Bengal and adjoining seas due to rough conditions.
