• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the north-east monsoon remains vigorous over the South Peninsula.
• A cyclonic circulation over the south-west Bay of Bengal and the Tamil Nadu coast is expected to develop into a low-pressure area by Wednesday afternoon.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall is expected to impact Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, and parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions to daily life are possible in areas receiving very heavy rainfall. Agricultural activities may also be affected, particularly in regions experiencing prolonged wet spells.
