The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts for isolated heavy rainfall and strong surface winds across several regions in India.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience heavy rainfall between 24th and 25th August, while Kerala, Mahe, and Telangana may see similar conditions from 23rd to 25th August.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall could lead to localised flooding, waterlogging, and disruptions in daily activities in affected areas such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Strong winds may pose risks to coastal infrastructure, fishing activities, and small boats, particularly in regions like Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Squally conditions in the Arabian Sea could impact maritime operations near the Somalia coast and adjoining areas. Thunderstorms and lightning in Central India, including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, may pose safety risks to residents and outdoor workers.
