Heavy Rain Forecast in Kerala Due to Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal
IN · Published Sep 10, 2026
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in several districts of Kerala over the next three days, providing relief from the recent summer-like heat.
A cyclonic circulation has developed over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to evolve into a low-pressure area by 11th September near the northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha coasts.

Impact & Risks

The anticipated heavy rainfall may lead to localised waterlogging, landslides, and sudden rises in water levels in vulnerable areas. While widespread severe weather is not expected, residents in the alerted districts are advised to remain vigilant. Fishermen along the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts are currently not restricted from fishing, but they are advised to monitor weather updates closely as sea conditions may change with the development of the low-pressure system.
