• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain warning for Kerala, citing the influence of three cyclonic circulations. These circulations are located over northern Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, and the southern coastal region of Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across Kerala from today until 20th October
• Thunderstorms and strong winds, with speeds reaching 40–50 km/h, are likely in isolated areas today. A 'Yellow Alert' has been declared for multiple districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram. The IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall during this period.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, poses risks such as waterlogging, localised flooding, and disruption to daily activities in affected districts. Winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h may cause damage to weak structures and trees. Residents in districts under 'Yellow Alert' should remain cautious, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides. Coastal regions may experience rough conditions due to strong winds.
