A series of severe storms is expected to intensify across the Great Plains, Corn Belt, and Upper Midwest on Sunday and Monday, with the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center issuing an enhanced risk (Level 3 out of 5) for Sunday and a moderate risk (Level 4 out of 5) for Monday.
The primary threats include damaging wind gusts, large hail, and the potential for strong tornadoes, including EF2 or stronger.
On Saturday, the region already experienced severe weather, with reports of baseball-sized hail in Missouri and 80 mph wind gusts near the Kansas-Nebraska border.

Why It's Important?

The storms pose a significant risk to life and property, particularly in areas under the enhanced and moderate risk zones. Damaging winds could lead to power outages and structural damage, while large hail may harm vehicles and crops. The potential for strong tornadoes adds a life-threatening dimension, especially in vulnerable communities. Flooding is also a concern in areas where storms may repeatedly pass over the same locations.
