While it may seem logical to use high-beam lights to improve visibility, they can actually make driving in fog more dangerous. High beams are mounted higher on vehicles and shine directly into the fog, causing the light to reflect off water droplets and back toward the driver. This creates glare and reduces visibility further. Instead, low-beam lights or fog lights, which are mounted lower and shine closer to the ground, are more effective at illuminating the road and cutting through the fog.
