• Learn how these microscopic particles affect health and why preventive measures are crucial.

The Scale of India's Air Pollution Crisis

India faces a pervasive air pollution challenge, with 100% of its population living in areas exceeding the WHO's annual PM2.5 guideline of 5 micrograms per cubic metre. A study published in The Lancet Planetary Health revealed that every 10 micrograms per cubic metre increase in PM2.5 concentration correlates with an 8.6% rise in annual mortality. Between 2009 and 2019, PM2.5 exposure contributed to an estimated 3.8 million deaths in India.
