Diesel sales, a key indicator of economic activity in India, saw a 10.7% year-on-year increase in July, reaching 7.12 million tonnes compared to 6.43 million tonnes the previous year. Similarly, petrol sales climbed 9.7% to 3.45 million tonnes during the same period. These increases are attributed to delayed monsoon rains, which led to higher fuel usage for agricultural machinery and irrigation.
