In Andhra Pradesh, the government has significantly increased crop insurance coverage for Kharif-2026. A special enrolment drive identified eligible farmers who were previously outside the insurance net. As a result, enrolment applications surged by 80%, reaching 35.17 lakh farmers. Insured acreage nearly doubled, and the total sum insured rose to Rs 13,983 crore, making Andhra Pradesh one of the top states in terms of insured acreage.
