Urbanization is intensifying the effects of extreme heat in Indian cities. Expanding concrete landscapes and shrinking green spaces create urban heat islands, where temperatures can be over 10°C higher than surrounding rural areas, even at night. This phenomenon exacerbates the challenges faced by outdoor workers, who are already struggling with reduced productivity and health risks due to prolonged heat exposure.
