Cyclones typically begin as low-pressure systems over warm ocean waters. In the Bay of Bengal, these systems are often triggered by upper-air cyclonic circulations, which can intensify into cyclones under favourable conditions such as high sea surface temperatures and low vertical wind shear. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) closely monitors these systems to predict their development and movement.
