QDENGA, developed by Japan-based Takeda, is the first dengue vaccine approved in India. It has shown an efficacy rate of 80-91% in clinical trials conducted in the country. The vaccine is authorized for individuals aged 4 to 60 years and provides protection lasting two to three years. While the vaccine is yet to be commercially launched, healthcare providers are preparing for its rollout, expected around September-October. The vaccine is a promising addition to India’s fight against dengue, but its pricing and dosage schedule are yet to be finalized.
