The Community Heat Adaptation and Treatment Strategies (CommHATS) study, conducted in partnership with Harvard and the Self Employed Women’s Association in India, is a pioneering effort to quantify the impact of extreme heat on women workers. Over 1,000 women are participating in this 13-month study, equipped with wearable devices and sensors to measure heat and humidity levels in their environments. The study also collects data on biomarkers, living conditions, and wages to build one of the largest databases on heat-related health impacts.
