Current Water Levels and Regional Impact

As of the latest data, the total live storage in Southern India's reservoirs is 13.614 billion cubic meters (BCM), which is only 24.62% of their total capacity. This is significantly lower than last year's storage of 60.36% during the same period. The Cauvery Basin, a critical area for agriculture, is particularly affected, with water levels 24.5% below normal. This has disrupted paddy sowing activities in Tamil Nadu's Cauvery Delta districts, posing risks to food security and livelihoods.
