Weather systems in the Bay of Bengal typically originate as low-pressure areas. These areas can evolve into depressions, characterised by more organised winds and thunderstorms. Satellite observations, such as those from India's INSAT-3DS, play a critical role in tracking these developments. For instance, a recent system began as a low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and moved west-northwest towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, showing signs of intensifying into a depression.
