Severe Heat and Storm Threat Looms Over Tri-State Area Through Friday
US · Published Jun 10, 2026
The tri-state area is bracing for a surge in heat and humidity starting Wednesday, with temperatures expected to exceed 90°F (32°C) on Thursday and Friday.
According to NBC New York, the heat index, which combines temperature and humidity, is forecasted to reach between 95°F and 100°F (35°C to 38°C) during the hottest parts of the day.

Why It's Important?

The combination of extreme heat and high humidity increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. The severe storms expected late Wednesday through Friday could result in localized damage from strong winds, including power outages and hazardous debris. Outdoor events and activities may face disruptions, and travel could be impacted by storm-related hazards.
