Extreme Heat Advisory Issued for Tri-State Area Through Wednesday
US · Published May 19, 2026
A Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of the tri-state area, covering Tuesday and Wednesday, as a surge of summer air brings extreme heat to the region.
Temperatures are expected to peak in the mid-90s°F (mid-30s°C) away from coastal areas, with heat index values ranging between 95°F and 99°F (35°C and 37°C) during the hottest parts of the day.
This marks the hottest stretch of weather so far this year, and the early-season heat could pose challenges for those unaccustomed to such conditions.

Why It's Important?

The extreme heat poses risks for heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Outdoor workers and individuals engaging in prolonged outdoor activities are also at risk. Additionally, the potential for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday could lead to localized damage from strong winds or hail. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
