Impact & Risks

The uneven distribution of rainfall has led to contrasting impacts across regions. Excessive rainfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and western Uttar Pradesh may increase the risk of flooding and landslides, particularly in hilly areas. Conversely, deficient rainfall in central, southern, and eastern regions, including Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal, could exacerbate water scarcity and negatively affect agricultural activities. The lack of rain in Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh may also impact crop yields and water availability.
